Liminality of Being
by Geeta Roopnarine
"Liminality of Being" is an exploration of the in-between states of a person's inner and outer self. Knowing the impossibility of mapping of that state of being in the centre, which is unfolding in the space of
silence, I try to approach this liminal area with colour and motion and let the felt sense of the figure come forward. When working, I
try to stand aside from myself and work from an intuitive point of view.
These pieces are a continuation of the first inner mappings of a crowd waiting to cross at a busy intersection. Dance
is the inspiration for these pieces and watercolour on paper reflects the ethereal fragility of this state of
being. This work points towards an attentive noticing and a yearning towards integration of the divided
